The potency of the current configuration may have prompted Buzz to keep the band out on the road as much as possible. Then again, the Melvins have long been one of the hardest-touring acts around. “Nobody wants to work harder than me, you know, and I’m willing to go the extra mile on almost anything. I think most people don’t do shit. Most people I know don’t do shit. Nothing. They sit around and do nothing at all. I can’t do that, I’m too weird. I’m not afraid of hard work, not in the least. That’s what I like, that’s what I want. If what you want is eating hot wings down at the fucking sports bar and trying to bone stupid chicks, go for it. If that’s what you want out of life, go for it. Great. I just don’t feel like I would be happy with that.”
So don’t expect the Melvins to ease up on the throttle as they blast past the quarter-century mark. But don’t take ’em for granted, either. “We’re not gonna be able to do this forever, it’s not infinite,” Buzz snorts. “If I get my head blown off in an alley, or Crover drops dead, or, you know, one of us dies in some weird sex accident, then that’s the end of it. I could get eaten by a dinosaur or blasted into space. So we wanna enjoy it as much as we can, for as long as we can possibly do it, until we can’t do it anymore.”
