Notes on the Dirty Truckers and the Kickbacks

I’m not one to gossip, so you didn’t hear it from me, but it seems the DIRTY TRUCKERS and the KICKBACKS are getting serious. Everybody said it couldn’t work: the former, gruff Cheapish Tricky rockers hooked on licks; the latter a bit alt-er, a little bluer, probably clean of house and good in the kitchen. But a shared fondness for Paul Westerberg and beer has bridged the gap: word is they have a date at Church this Friday, September 5 (with AM STEREO. . . awkward!), and, not to get too detailed here, but they plan on releasing their new discs at the same time — right in front of everyone! Is that moving a bit fast or what?

I don't need to break this news to you returning LGTBTQ-folk, but for those of you just joining us in Boston, a bitter little amuse bouche to start off this otherwise super-tasty survey of our current gay-nightlife situation: our gay bars kind of suck.
