Quite contrary

By CHRIS FARAONE  |  September 16, 2008

“This is one of those songs that everyone likes to pick apart and that most people have some disagreement with. And the beauty of the Internet is that everyone can share their opinions no matter how inaccurate they are.”

Which brings us to a last order of business. There is one issue that even this publication has with “Kill”: it’s Pip’s suggestion that the word phoenix should be spelled “p-h-e-o-n-i-x, regardless of what the Oxford English Dictionary tells you.” Surely he isn’t suggesting that we rename our paper?

“I genuinely lie awake at night thinking about the way phoenix is spelled. People argue that it’s from Latin, but I think if we’re going to bastardize a language, we might as well arrange the word to fit the way we speak it.”
