Despite mom’s efforts, Vivian Girls’ style hasn’t changed noticeably on the new material they’ve been playing on the current tour — songs slated for inclusion on an album they’ll begin recording in Los Angeles in January. Katy: “We’ll probably spend more time recording the next one because someone else will be paying for it. We’ll have more time in the studio so it’ll probably sound a little less amateurish, but a lot of people do like our amateurishness.”
“Don’t worry, it’ll be amateurish!” says Cassie.
“Yeah, we’re not gonna become a prog-rock band anytime soon,” Katy snorts. “We wanna sound like a big pile of mush forever.”
