I resent, as a black person, gay Americans comparing their plight to force their lifestyle on the rest of 97 percent of us . . . being compared to my parents sitting in at lunch counters, my mother being called “nigger,” my father being called “nigger,” my mother being told at 13 years old when she was sitting in the back of the bus to get up. It’s not the same.
