RIP, Rufus Harley
Could there be a bigger hipster than an African-American guy who plays jazz bagpipes? Cooler than cool, Rufus Harley was the sax player who switched to bagpipes in the mid-1960s after viewing JFK’s funeral on TV. Rufus Harley, like Rahsaan Roland Kirk, heard things and generously shared them with us. Thank you, Rufus.
Doug White
While going to press this week, we heard the sad news about the passing of Doug White. Our thoughts and prayers go his friends and family. We will offer our reminiscences of this esteemed broadcaster next week.
