Second only perhaps to the 38,000 hearts beating in the stands. “This [upcoming home-game stretch] is a big test: whether the fans can rise to the occasion and give them their love, basically,” says Leskowitz. Of course, “the subtle energy stuff can only get you so far when you’ve got half the team out with injuries, but it could help. It could definitely help.”

Scientifically speaking, you gotta have heart
Of course we can and will support our team and players. That's what we do, its what we've always done. I don't believe in booing our own and I don't like the trend of the newbie fan the last couple years who does it.. let the yankee fans be like that. Me -- I'd like to save my animosity for the Red Sox FO -- for breaking apart the championship team more than necessary, while we could've had a real good thing going for a couple more years after 2004... guess what, brainiacs: WE saw it out here -- HOW COME you can't see it inside your green walls -- with all that money you're making???

Nah, the mistake wasn't in breaking up the '04 team - it was not committing to the youth movement. I'd rather have kept Marte and Hanley than have to watch three more years of Coco and Beckett.

  •   REVISITING THE GREATEST HARVARD-YALE GAME  |  November 18, 2009
It takes some doing to make Harvard look like an underdog in anything. But Harvard Beats Yale, 29-29 — Kevin Rafferty's 2008 movie (out now on DVD) and new book (released this past month) about the famous football rivalry — does just that.

"We're supposed to show up for our wives and kids in a way that prior generations frankly weren't," says Brookline resident Tom Matlack.
  •   REVIEW: PIRATE RADIO  |  November 16, 2009
A rusty, red-painted trawler bobs in the waves of the North Atlantic. Inside is a claustrophobic warren of rooms: tiny, brine-smelling bunks, a well-stocked bar, and, crucially, a broadcast booth, its shelves crammed with the latest 45s and LPs, its turntables manned in shifts by a motley squad of hirsute rogues.
