Not fade away

By CLIF GARBODEN  |  April 30, 2008

The last word on the anniversary celebration goes to the ever inexplicable Captain PJ, 25-year Wednesday-night rock host of the "Rockin' Revolution" on WCUW (91.3 FM): "Wormtown, basically, was a happening, especially from 1979 to 1990 when it was the only thing happening at the time. Any time day or night, something was happening. If it wasn't a gig, it was a private party or getting together and it was cool.

"My most memorable moment was the first time I went to Ralph's in 1981 to see the Commandos and the Unattached. I was bouncing off the walls, and I broke my leg and still was able to walk out the door."

Ralph’s Chadwick Square Diner is at 95 Prescott Street (off Grove Street), in Worcester, 508.753.9543. See wormtown.org for details.

  •   HOLY LANDSCAPE!  |  September 24, 2009
At its core, Ken Burns's PBS 12-hour epic The National Parks: America's Best Idea (nightly on WGBH Channel 2 at 8 pm, from September 27 through October 2) is a selective, initiative by initiative, advocate by advocate, chronicle of the evolution of the National Parks system and the changing roles protected lands have played in American culture since Congress validated Yosemite in 1864.
  •   MICHAEL RYAN: 1951-2009  |  August 31, 2009
Every proper obit should begin with something long-winded and amusing. In this case, that's easy.

  •   LOST TRIBES FOUND  |  April 07, 2009
Nobody likes a guilt trip. That's why filmmaker Ric Burns's 1995 Manifest Destiny documentary The Way West was such a drag.
