WHAT DO YOU DO, AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU DONE IT? I am the artistic director of the Providence Black repertory Company. I founded the company in the fall of 1996.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN RHODE ISLAND? Thirty-eight years.
WHAT WERE YOU DOING 30 YEARS AGO? Building forts in Wiggins Village and climbing out my mother’s second story  window to get milk and eggs during the great blizzard.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO BE DOING 30 YEARS FROM NOW? Admiring the fact that the work my two children Anu Sofi and Rah are doing in their lives is making the world better.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? Providence Sound Session.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT RHODE ISLAND? Providence’s potential.
LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT RHODE ISLAND? 2 am closings . . . I’m a grown-ass man.
COFFEE MILK OR DEL’S? Del’s.
FAVORITE LOCAL DISH? Miss Fanny (my mother’s) fried Chicken!
IF YOU DIDN’T LIVE HERE, WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE? Martinique.
PHILLIPE OR JORGE? Depends on how one pronounces them.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I’VE NEVER BEEN TO . . . Your house.
FAVORITE PLACE TO GET AWAY FROM IT ALL FOR A MOMENT OR TWO? That’s private.
YOUR MOST MEMORABLE [OR HALF-FORGOTTEN] NIGHT OUT IN THE LAST 30 YEARS? That’s very private.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PORTRAYAL OF RHODE ISLAND ON TELEVISION, IN A MOVIE, OR IN A BOOK? Hasn’t been made yet.
WHAT’S ON YOUR WIENERS? That’s some nasty shit, y’all.
