WHAT DO YOU DO, AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU DONE IT? Director of marketing at PPAC
. . . coming up on 25 years, it is almost my anniversary, too!
IF YOU’RE NOT A NATIVE, WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE YOU GOT HERE? Almost 25 years; prior to Rhode Island, Hartford, Connecticut.
WHAT WERE YOU DOING 30 YEARS AGO? Working for a small advertising agency in Boston.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO BE DOING 30 YEARS FROM NOW? Designing a gorgeous flower garden!
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? The contribution I have made to the revitalization of PPAC. We are fortunate to have still have this theatre when so many others have been torn down.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT RHODE ISLAND? It is both sophisticated and down-to-earth . . . that keeps it interesting!
LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT RHODE ISLAND? The poor condition of the roads. My car is always in the shop!
COFFEE MILK OR DEL’S? Del’s.
FAVORITE LOCAL DISH? Softshell crabs at Capriccio are awesome!
IF YOU DIDN’T LIVE HERE, WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE? Hamilton, Bermuda or Sorrento, Italy
WHAT BAR/RESTAURANT/LANDMARK/PERSONALITY THAT HAS CEASED TO EXIST IN THE LAST 30 YEARS DO YOU MISS THE MOST? Senator John Chafee, Salty Brine, and Doug White — they were all just so much a part of Rhode Island.
PHILLIPE OR JORGE? With initials like mine, BOTH!!!
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I’VE NEVER BEEN TO . . . Foster or Glocester!
FAVORITE PLACE TO GET AWAY FROM IT ALL FOR A MOMENT OR TWO? If I tell you that, it won’t be a getaway!
YOUR MOST MEMORABLE [OR HALF-FORGOTTEN] NIGHT OUT IN THE LAST 30 YEARS? I will never forget the Rolling Stones’ Steel Wheels Tour concert at then-Foxboro Stadium. It was unbelievable!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PORTRAYAL OF RHODE ISLAND ON TELEVISION, IN A MOVIE, OR IN A BOOK? I thought Newport looked amazing in Meet Joe Black.
WHAT’S ON YOUR WIENERS? Relish and mustard, that’s it.
IF YOU COULD HAVE THREE RHODE ISLANDERS [LIVING OR NOT] OVER FOR DINNER, WHO WOULD THEY BE? Roger Williams, John Brown, and Doris Duke.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN RHODE ISLAND? ASK YOURSELF A QUESTION AND ANSWER IT. Here’s one I am often asked: “Who was the person you enjoyed meeting most at PPAC?” There have been many tremendous celebrities over the years, but I have to say I felt lucky to meet the late Robert Urich. He “flipped the switch” at a special ceremony on our marquee to light it for the first time and when I asked, he instantly agreed to do a public service announcement on behalf of our theatre. He was genuine and kind.
