But you can forget about all of the speculation on talk radio and the rest of the media buzz. One thing is certain: it would be totally inappropriate to present the issue of same-sex marriage as a referendum issue. That is because IT IS A CIVIL RIGHTS ISSUE! PERIOD. Repressive entities (e.g., the Diocese of Providence) desperately and vehemently must refuse to acknowledge that the issue is about civil rights because otherwise the jig is up, and they know it. This is a matter of certain members of our legislature growing some cojones.
But sadly, the legislature is led by the clueless (Murphy) and the cowardly (Paiva Weed) who, if they're still around 15 years from now, will only be able to do their best Ralph Kramden ("homina, homina, homina") when asked where they were when people finally came to their senses about the complete normalcy of same-sex love. All you who don't get it run the risk of looking like the white enablers of the Klan from the 1960s. So, for your own sake, make us proud and show some leadership, Representative Fox!
In mourning
And, needless to say, Phillipe & Jorge will be wearing black cloths on our head for the next 40 days in respect for the passing of Ed McMahon. Hi-yo!
