Thanks to the July 16 Cambridge break-in that wasn't a break-in — you know, the one that led to a boozy biracial four-way with President Obama — the Boston area fell under the international media microscope. Coincidentally, that same evening, the Phoenix Media/Communications Group happened to send a squadron of 15 photographers out into the dusky twilight to capture a typical Hub night in all its quotidian glory. What the global press failed to articulate in their hastily assembled reports, our team of photojournalists communicated wordlessly.

The mission was for our corporate sister, Stuff magazine, and the results are beautiful, if we do say so ourselves. The "One Night in Boston" issue, the magazine's second-annual iteration of the concept, caught street life and revelry from the North End, the South End, and a bunch of other ends in between. The artistically rendered work depicts, among other groups, the affected, the disaffected, and, if a shot of a discarded syringe on the street is any clue, quite possibly the infected. It also snatches the pulse of the city, from festive stoop parties to the deserted streets in tourist areas. The issue hits stands on August 11. Go to stuffboston.com.
