After 32 years in the US Senate, Ted Kennedy remains a force to be reckoned with, both for his legendary family history and his considerable accomplishments. Though bruised and battered in his personal life, he's still formidable enough that Governor Bill Weld, the state's most popular Republican, declined to challenge him.
