Mary Karr reads from Lit: A Memoir
Brookline Booksmith

For a poet, Mary Karr has written an imposing stack of autobiographical prose. The witty, introspective Karr garnered mass critical acclaim for her bestselling The Liars Club and then secured her following with Cherry, the pair being memoirs about her "apocalyptic" childhood and adolescence, respectively. With Lit: A Memoir, she completes a trilogy (one for every 18 years of her life), in this case talking about divorce, alcoholism, and finding Jesus. She'll be reading some macabre hilarity at Brookline Booksmith, 279 Harvard St, Brookline | 7 pm | free | http://www.brooklinebooksmith.com.
