A banner year for pixelated pieces of ass

1. Frank Woods from Call of Duty: Black Ops
Call of Duty: Black Ops offered us not one, not two, but three hot guys. You may wonder why Frank Woods stands out in a trio that also includes Alex Mason (voiced by and modeled after Sam Worthington) and Joseph Bowman (voiced by and modeled after Ice Cube). I admit, I have a soft spot for a Solid Snake-inspired bandanna, especially when the guy wearing it is also not afraid to rock a tight black tee. Oh, and don’t let me forget to mention the outfit (or lack thereof) that he apparently thinks is battle-appropriate for the Vietnam level.
So, yes, he’s hot, but it’s Woods’s personality that shot him all the way to my number one sexiest pick and also won him the Best Character award at the 2010 VGAs. (Expect some spoilers for the Black Ops campaign to follow, by the way.) The game’s protagonist, Mason, is a mentally unhinged victim of multiple brainwashing attempts. Throughout the game, it’s clear that Mason shouldn’t be trusted, let alone befriended, yet Woods remains devoted to his clearly crazy pal. The game features precisely zero female characters, so I decided Woods was Mason’s love interest, and my imagination filled in the blanks during the scene where Woods lays down his life to save Mason’s.
Apparently the CoD developers weren’t ready to say goodbye to Woods, either, since the game includes an easter egg that reveals Woods managed to survive the blast. Look forward to seeing him bring sexy back to a future Call of Duty game.
