And while we may believe Walt is safe, it would seem that just about anyone else is fair game for an onscreen death. After all, Gilligan spent several episodes of the third season establishing two cartel members as Walt's biggest threat only to kill them off midway through the season. With only one episode left, it wouldn't be remotely surprising if Gus or Jesse didn't survive, not to mention Walt's DEA brother-in-law, Hank (Dean Norris), who's drawn Gus's attention, or Walt's money-laundering wife, Skyler (Anna Gunn), whom Gus has also threatened. Or, hey: maybe Gilligan really does aim to surprise us all: kill Walter ahead of schedule and turn the show over to Jesse. If any show could pull off such a bold move, it's this one.
