PBS
With any luck, ROAD TRIP NATION (Sunday October 1 at 11 pm on WGBH) will turn out to be a traveling version of American High — the hip documentary series follows three groups of college students as they trek cross-country in beat-up RVs, interview famous and not-so-famous people about their jobs, and attempt to figure out what to do with the rest of their lives. The four-part series REMAKING AMERICAN MEDICINE (beginning October 5) examines the critical health-care issues facing the country by profiling the people and institutions working to turn the system around.

SHOWTIME
Damon Wayans calls his sketch show THE UNDERGROUND (Thursday September 14 at 10 pm) “In Living Color on steroids,” with a cast that includes Mikey Day (Nick Cannon’s Wild ’N Out) and Aries Spears (MAD TV). MATES OF HORROR (October, TBA) returns for a second season of one-hour original creep-fest flicks. Based on Jeff Lindsay’s novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, DEXTER (October 1, time TBA) stars Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a forensics expert for the Miami Metro Police Department who happens to be incredibly charming, likable, and funny. Oh, and he’s also a serial killer.
