That said, the last section of this short play might be going overboard, metaphor-wise. It's several years later, and Joan and Todd are talking over coffee. He is wearing a camo jacket, and it's not long before we understand that it isn't a style statement.

The world has gone crazy. Alliances have been formed between human factions and those of the natural world. Cats are working with the French. Elephants and Koreans are now enemies. As happens in war, alliances shift; Latvian dentists are no longer in league with the ants, and while deer have been invading shopping malls in hordes, Joan and Todd are relieved that they are now on their side. So it goes.

Well, when you think about it, western civilization has been at war with nature for centuries, arguably millennia, so isn't it only fair that nature eventually declares war on us?

What a clever idea. Use the same cast and adjacent sets, and develop characters and their stories into two plays that stand alone but also offer the bonus of familiarity to audience members who see them both.

' BOB: Blessed Be the Dysfunction That Binds ' is about Anne Pasquale’s experiences growing up with a “special needs person” with schizophrenic tendencies, a balancing act of love and trepidation. Bob, you see, could be violent.
  •   AND JUSTICE FOR ALL?  |  June 04, 2013
Don't ever get arrested for a serious crime. That's one of the infuriating lessons learned from ' The Exonerated ,' a drama of justice delayed written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen.
