UNE’s impressive third all-female exhibit

Lauren Fensterstock's black-on-black encasements of cut paper and glass are a natural inclusion, echoed sleekly by the dark designs of Julie Poitras-Santos, which involve a coat of obsidian feathers and a undulating spool of black ropes. Further contributions cover the immersive (the worlds of Susan Bickford and Amy Stacey Curtis), the introspective (a series of austere inks and an installation by Ling-Wen Tsai), and the fantastic (drawings of impossible buildings by Carrie Scanga). "Women" may be but a simple signifier, but the incredible ground these artists cover is fertile indeed.
