Sex and (comic) sensibilities
Josie and the Pussycats were sexy for cartoons, but they were a fairly chaste trio — too shy to appear in full-frontal shower scenes.
Sixteen candles
Kingston Gallery has been operating as an artist-run cooperative since 1982, when it opened on Kingston Street in Chinatown.
Walk on the mild side
In 1970, William Wegman was making short videos — jumping around in his underwear with purses hanging all over him, that sort of thing.
The artists’ view
Recently I was chatting with a local painter, whom I’ll call Picasso Menino, about Boston’s new Institute of Contemporary Art. Slideshow: Architectural images from the new ICA Bold steps: The new ICA sets the agenda for Fan Pier. By David Eisen.
Boston music news: November 3, 2006
Drop a 10-spot, walk into the Opera House this Wednesday at 7:30 pm, and you’ll find almost the entire line-up of headliners that played Bank of America Pavilion last summer.
Gallery: SIGGRAPH 2006
We sent our photographers to SIGGRAPH 2006, the annual five-day conference on digital art and computer graphics at the Boston Convention Center. Slideshow: selections from the SIGGRAPH 2006 exhibition. Photographs by Joel Veak. Slideshow: SIGGRAPH 2006 fashion show. Photographs by Kristin Osiecki.

In 2004, AS220's StinkTank put out a paper titled "Compost and the Arts."
Distance makes the heart grow fonder
Those Bostonians who've been experiencing Bill Arning withdrawals can stop fretting: the former MIT List Visual Arts Center curator, now director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, is coming home for his final opening.
Mixing it up
It seems like a simple exercise you might give students: Get a bunch of plastic bottles, lots of thread, and make some art from it. It's the kind of assignment teachers give to get students thinking about sculptural form and structure. And usually the results feel like a dumb exercise.
