With his fall show "Exempla" at Tufts University, Cambridge's Brian Knep demonstrated again why he may be the area's pre-eminent digital artist. It's not just the impressive programming, which animates doodly characters based on simple interactions with viewers, but Knep's ideas. His cartoon creatures bunch together in groups and divide and team up again to become beautiful, philosophical metaphors for the life and death of communities.
