Review: Cuban Revolution

By BILL RODRIGUEZ  |  April 18, 2012

You have to end your meal with a café Cubano ($3), a sweet, thick, and wonderful coffee that went nicely with the dense and delicious flan ($5.50) that we enjoyed. Their tres leches vanilla layer cake ($5.50) would be a good choice with the coffee as well. A naughty splurge would be their rebelde cake ($7.10), numerous thin layers of chocolate cake alternating with chocolate filling.

My friend will be visiting Havana later this month, taking a Witness for Peace Delegation. From what I saw in her experience with this Cuban Revolution, she'll be sure to witness some lip-smacking food as well.

Some people are brittle and dry as tinder, but they don't have the sense to not play with matches. The two women at the dangerous center of Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane could blaze up at any moment, and we know that one or both will by the end. Each is filled with so much pent-up hatred that spontaneous combustion seems a distinct possibility.

Taking place on the hot Louisiana Gulf Coast, Tennessee Williams's The Rose Tattoo is steamy in more than one way, as human passions boil off repressed emotions.
