Stadler named Tao after a legend of a hidden peach grove paradise nearly impossible to find. The connotation is of an out-of-the-way and unexpected gem. It is just the right name. Tao is the best reason to drive up to Brunswick since the days when El Camino had the finest Mexican food in Maine. Camino's success helped inspire a number of chefs to experiment with Mexican in Portland, and maybe Tao will do the same for Chinese. In the meantime on the drive up you might be inspired to give up on some of your dreams. Personally I am no longer hoping to develop biting topspin on my backhand, or to get a kind, thoughtful, beautiful heiress to fall in love with me.
