It’s not that my belly had any room to spare after the crock of creamy spinach and artichoke dip and the two-inch-thick maple-glazed pork chop (and it’s a good thing I didn’t order that side of broccolini). It’s just that the classic children’s rationale still holds true for me: there’s always room for dessert.
And caramel anything is an automatic contender. Add brioche to the mix, and it’s a done deal. While some bread puddings look better on paper than what ends up on your plate, this is hardly the case at West Roxbury’s West on Centre. A banana-lover’s triple whammy, the banana bread pudding comes oval-shaped and decadent: an inch of spongy baked brioche with a thin, crisp crust, surrounded by a moat of warm, caramel-sauced banana slices. Oh, and don’t forget the topping: a delicious scoop of buttermilk-banana ice cream.
