Come March, it’s easy to find yourself in a drinking slump. Gone are the holiday parties with their peppermint martinis, cranberry cosmos, and other jewel-toned libations. Summer’s rum-based punches and coconut concoctions are still months away. And how much green beer can you really take?
Fortunately for those in the know, the B-Side Lounge offers the perfect antidote to a drinker’s seasonal affective disorder. Its Champagne julep, which isn’t listed on the menu, serves up a fistful of mint leaves muddled with sugar and soused with Champagne, all topped with a cognac floater. Bartender Dave Cagle based the cocktail on a recipe in the 1930s classic The Savoy Cocktail Book .
So this year, skip the shamrock shake in favor of this sophisticated midyear stunner, with its nod to both New Year’s Eve’s bubbly past and summer’s upcoming Mojitos. Available for $8 at the B-Side Lounge, 98 Hampshire Street, in Cambridge. Call 617.354.0766.
