Review: India restaurant

By JOHNETTE RODRIGUEZ  |  February 24, 2010

I haven't even mention-ed the ginger martini that Bill swooned over, the hot orange-spiced cider that Baiba savored, and the mint tea with honey that I sipped. We've also always loved India's mango lassi, like a yogurt/mango shake. The green tea, ginger, and milk smoothie might pull me in the next time around.

But now it was time to scratch our heads over the dessert list: not just gulab jamun, that small doughnut soaked with sweet syrup (in this case maple syrup and rum), but also fresh fruit with pistachio sauce, chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream (note the theme?), or a mango banana split. We opted for lemoncello cake ($5.95), with delicious layers of sponge cake soaked in lemoncello and layers of mascarpone.

And if the food and décor aren't enticement enough, consider several ongoing specials: $1 appetizers at the bar, 50 percent off all entrees on Tuesdays, lunch for two for $19.95, and dinner with wine for two at $35.95, and doggie treats (including yogurt pops) served at the outdoor patio. Certainly, there's something for everyone, human or four-footed, at India.
