Tarra had nam sod ($9.25), on the menu under "Northeast Style (Hot & Sour)." Sliced chicken is tossed with onions and scallions, sprinkled with roasted peanuts, and tang-ified with lime juice, ginger, and chili. Simple and good. Also in that category was something that her friend Feyi leapt to, calamari ($10.95). Poached rather than fried, tossed with onions and scallions, zinged-up with chili paste and both lemongrass and lime juice, its sauce was as delicious as mine.
Johnnie's kai-yang ($8.95), garlic-marinated pieces of bone-in chicken, was slightly hot with white pepper and quite delicious, especially when complemented with a shredded green papaya salad in the deluxe version ($10.95), which also came with sticky rice. (With these dishes, rice is $1.50.)
Dessert? We didn't have room for dessert, but there are 10 choices, from lychee nuts to green tea ice cream. Enjoy.
