I turned to Rutina Wesley, but a publicist whisked her away. I didn't have a chance to ask her how she manages to make her character, Tara, so scandalously irritating. I'll never know the logistics of my favorite recent scene, in which Tara runs through the woods in a Victorian nightgown with an angry werewolf at her heels. I'll never know if her refusal to submit to full-frontal affects her take-home pay, or if graduating from Julliard in any way prepared her for her portrayal of a vampire-rape survivor.
While these answers are forever lost to the ages, I'm happy to report that Wesley is tall, radiant, and has her very own set of well-defined arms. She seems even-keeled and pleasant — nothing like the miserable virago she plays on the show. (Note to self: it's called acting, even when it doesn't look like it.)
