SUNDAY, APRIL 24 | INDIE FILM FEST

If you can't make it to Cannes this spring, get a first look at this year's buzz-worthy films at our own world-class INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL OF BOSTON. This celebration of cinema screens dozens of outstanding features, hosts panels and parties (like the awards-night bash on May 1 at the Liberty Hotel), and offers audiences a chance to meet the filmmakers. Last year's festival saw the local premieres of such critically acclaimed films as Winter's Bone, I Am Love, and Tiny Furniture. This year's crop is similarly promising, including as it does Michael Winterbottom's The Trip, Miranda July's The Future, and Peter Sasowsky's documentary Heaven + Earth + Joe Davis. The various venues include the Somerville Theatre (55 Davis Square, Somerville), the Brattle Theatre (40 Brattle St, Cambridge), the Coolidge Corner Theatre (290 Harvard St, Brookline) and the Stuart Street Playhouse (200 Stuart St, Boston) | April 24–May 7 | prices TBA | iffboston.org.
