According to Murray, the situation in Boston has "absolutely" improved: "There's been a ton of awareness raised over the last few years, and there are also a lot of people on bikes, which is good. . . . There's been a huge push by the city and Mass Bikes."
But things are far from perfect. "Driving culture sucks, period," Murray says, pointing out that the city still needs more bike lanes and specially designated bike paths. In a perfect world? "Destroy all cars."
But for more practical progress to be made, Murray says more people need to get on bikes. "If you get doored on a bike once, you're never going to open your [car] door to traffic again."
And to those who are nervous about biking in Boston? "Fuck it, just do it. The more you do it, the more comfortable you'll get."
Just don't forget your helmet. ^
