SUNDAY APRIL 1
Turns out you don't have to hop a plane out to Sundance to experience a great Colorado film fest. Instead, you can save yourself the hassle — and the cash — and check out the INTERNATIONAL EXPERIMENTAL CINEMA EXPOSITION right here in your own backyard. The acclaimed Denver-based festival presents innovative celluloid films from around the world, some of which will screen for one day only at the ICA, along with works by New England filmmakers Jonathan Schwartz and Saul Levine. Films TBA. That's at the Institute of Contemporary Art, 100 Northern Ave, Boston | 4 pm | $10; $8 students | icaboston.org.
It'd be hard to blame the entries in this year's ROCK 'N' ROLL RUMBLE for not recognizing the battle's longstanding tradition. Now in its third decade, the competition has made its way around Boston more than Blake Lively's character in The Town. And WBCN? What the fuck is a WBCN? The Rumble's been housed in venues across town, from the Rat to the Orpheum, with stints in Cambridge and Allston, and is now in its current incarnation — over the span of nine April nights— at T.T. the Bear's Place, 10 Brookline St, Cambridge | April 1-20 | price TBA | 617.492.BEAR or ticketweb.com.
