SATURDAY APRIL 7
DOWN [PILLOW] + DIRTY
Here at the Phoenix, we're a fairly pacifistic bunch. Make love, not war and all that. All bets are off today, however, when resident flash-mob impresarios the Banditos Misteriosos present Boston's INTERNATIONAL PILLOW FIGHT DAY 2012. Then it's every man, woman, and child for themselves in the coziest battle royale of all time. Five years in, most of ya'll probably know the drill by now: show up at the designated battleground (TBA), try to keep your "weapon" hidden, and, at the signal, start pummeling everyone around you. No feather pillows, please: while they make for an awesome aftermath scenescape, it turns out the people in charge of cleaning up don't much appreciate them. It all goes down . . . somewhere . . . at 3 pm | free| misteriosos.org.
OF MEN AND MUSIC
If you haven't heard Iceland indie-pop sextet OF MONSTERS AND MEN's dreamy, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros-like single "Little Talks" yet, then — busted! — you haven't been listening to your WFNX. They've been spinning that shit on heavy rotation, and for good reason. This band is no Nordic one-hit wonder— their debut album My Head is an Animal (Record Records) packs an 11-track wallop of intricately-crafted, lilting indie-pop magic. Need more convincing? These kids are blowing up so fast that, within days of announcing their show, demand required that they move it from the Brighton Music Hall to the House of Blues, 15 Lansdowne St, Boston | 7 pm | SOLD OUT | livenation.com.
