SATURDAY APRIL 21FANBOYS UNITE
The only con in town both grand and geeked out enough to rival Anime Boston, BOSTON COMIC CON 2012 hits town this weekend for the annual installation of all things sequential. This year's con celebrates Mad Magazine — America's longest-running humor mag — with guests appearances by some of the publication's legendary artists including Paul Coker Jr., Al Jaffee, and Al Feldstein. That, plus too many other guests panelists to name, vendors, and more will set up shop in the Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston St, Boston | April 21 from 10 am- 7 pm + April 22 from 10 am- 5 pm| $20; $35 weekend pass | bostoncomiccon.com.
SOUL BROTHER
Tickets to LA neo-soul crooner MAYER HAWTHORNE's free WFNX Alternatour show at Brighton Music Hall this past February were snapped up far more quickly than expected, leaving plenty of frustrated fans out in the cold. Bummer for them, because dude killed it. But lucky for everyone who missed out, Hawthorne swings back through town tonight with the County (his name for his revolving backing band of instrumentalists) for a (not-so-free, this time around) show at the Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm Ave, Boston | 6 pm | $18 | ticketmaster.com.
