Mystic, CT, is known for exactly two things. The Seaport, which boasts a renowned maritime museum, a massive photography collection, a preserved 19th-century coastal village, and a fully functioning shipyard. And then, of course, there's that flick Mystic Pizza, set at the town's ever-popular restaurant, which stars a pre–Pretty Woman Julia Roberts as a promiscuous young waitress. You can have it all — revel in the consistently fascinating world of square-riggers by day, and chow down on a mushy slice of mediocre pop culture by night. So, whether you get off on wooden whaling ships, or coming-of-age dramedies from the late '80s, Mystic is probably worth a visit.
