Where to go, what to do

CELEBRATING LIVE MUSIC: Last year's Portland Phoenix Best Music Poll awards show brought
together people from all over the club scene. It'll happen again in May, so keep your calendar clear.

Portland’s club scene is diverse enough to be almost confusing. Depending on what you like, there’s a pretty good choice of places to go to see and hear live music. Here’s a beginners' guide to where to find musicians — often local ones — playing your favorite types of tunes. (All of the below are in downtown Portland, unless specifically noted.) See our weekly listings and club directory for specific details on what’s happening where, and when.
