#8: Popeye quits this bitch, 1957

Someone didn't get his morning spinach... The Popeye balloon was noticeably unruly in its rainy-day inaugural parade appearance, veering off the route as the sailor cap that topped it filled with water. The sneering balloon refused to cooperate and at one point swerved to the side, dumping gallons of water on already rain-soaked bystanders. The mishap was the first of many that would occur over the next 50+ years as balloons grew in size and number.
