1) St. Patrick’s Day Blowout Concert
Is traditional Irish music not quite enough for you to get your jig on? Then head on over to the Middle East Upstairs [472 Mass Ave, Cambridge] around 8 pm for some wallet-friendly brews and loud “New England riot folk” from headliners Swaggerin’ Growlers. Sharing the bill are F Bombers, Faulty Conscience, Old Edison, and Time and Place —a lot of music for only $12 [or $10, if you buy in advance]. If Miller High Life tall boys and a deal like this won’t get you in a kilt, nothing will.

While Boston does have a few conventional — some might say uninteresting — gay bars, it doesn’t have a designated hotspot for queer women.
- Hip-hop's royal gains
It's a typically dope thing about hip-hop that one of its foremost architects — an old- and true-school icon who nurtured acts like De La Soul, cut the genre's standard bearer for concept albums, and, for better or worse, produced boom-bap's first comic interlude — will be manhandling the DJ booth at Good Life this Saturday at Fresh Produce's fourth anniversary party.
