While we were getting decriminalized weed in Massachusetts — and half of America was celebrating Barack Obama’s victory over Old Man McCain — a large segment of the population was reeling from the devastating passage of Proposition 8 in California. This documentary from Reed Cowan and Steven Greenstreet reveals how Mormon leaders conspired with unenlightened Catholics and an ignorant public against gay marriage, and it sheds a sad light on those whose civil rights were trampled as a result.
With the Church of Latter Day Saints unwilling to participate, The Mormon Proposition is about as subjective as documentaries get. The good news is that Cowan and Greenstreet are compelling enough to convince you that only one side of this debate deserves a voice.
