As Dolarhyde, the cattle baron lording over the frontier town in Jon Favreau's pastiche of Western and sci-fi movies, Harrison Ford has the best lines. Like: "That's ridiculous!" — said when someone explains why Independence Day-like aliens are blasting the neighborhood. Equally confused is Daniel Craig's Man with No Name (he has amnesia), who wakes up in the desert with a funny bracelet on his wrist. For him the aliens prove a mixed blessing: they keep showing up just in time to inadvertently save the day whenever he's in tough spot. Come to think of it, everything shows up in the nick of time, whether outlaws, Indians, or the town greenhorn Doc (Sam Rockwell), who, like Jimmy Stewart in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, learns to shoot — in the nick of time. Kind of cuts down on the suspense. How to use the bracelet? "Just don't think," someone suggests. Good advice for watching the movie, too.
