Wayne's World
BATMAN (1966)
Director: Leslie H. Martinson (PT-109 ).
Real World Events: US bombs Hanoi. Medicare and Miranda rights established. France exits NATO. The Sound of Music wins Best Picture Oscar. Star Trek debuts on TV. Mao publishes The Little Red Book. Blonde on Blonde. Reagan becomes Governor of California. Black Panthers.
Comic World Events: The Batman titles succumb to the kitsch of the TV show. Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Stan Lee continue the Marvel miracle. R. Crumb awaits.
Gotham City Style: The Swingin' '60s, although with a more "Cary Grant on acid" vibe.
Under the Cowl: Adam Fucking West. 'Nuff- said.
Sidekick/Love Interest: Burt Ward as Robin of "Holy [whatever] Batman!"
Bat-gadgets: Many that are suspiciously ad hoc and situation specific, like "bat-shark repellant."
Bat Bad-guys: The Joker, Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman dehydrate members of the UN Security Council in a scheme to take over the world.
Bad/Bat-line: "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Cowl Rating /Phoenix Crix Pix: N/A
Cowl rating/Nick's Pick: Three cowls. A camp classic, but made it impossible to take the property seriously for over 20 years.
