Beats, rhymes, and Li(f)e

“I was obviously shocked and saddened by his passing. He was actually the first person I worked out demos with for this album (over 2 years ago) and those original demos were essential in moving forward to create the album. Andy Kaulkin (president of Epitaph/Anti-) was close to Mark and put us in touch. Mark was really nice and helpful throughout the entire process. I am honored that we got the chance to collaborate. I didn’t really know how to address his passing when it happened. I still don’t, I guess. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.”

The new EP by PVD trio Gertrude Atherton, Isle of Lost Skulls , is a gnarled beauty of a debut and proves to be well worth the wait. I have been eagerly anticipating this record since catching drummer Melanie Fuest, singer/guitarist Shannon Le Corre, and bassist Nicole Lagace in action a dozen or so times over the past year.
