Head to Firehouse 13 early on FRIDAY (the 14th) for THE BRUNT OF IT, BETA BURSTS, and THE DEPTHS warming it up for Strange Famous Records punk reps PRAYERS FOR ATHEISTS; all-ages and $7 at the door, call 401.270.1801. Start your SATURDAY (the 15th) downtown at Club Hell (401.709.3923) for THE PIST reunion show, with guests FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH supporting (7 pm start), then head to the freebie o’ the week courtesy of the Common Pub in Bristol — buckle up for another 75orLess Records invasion led by SIX STAR GENERAL, with Newport’s finest, THE DIEPODS (must-see/hear material right here) and The Propellers kicking it off around 9ish, call 401.253.9801. See you there.

There’s a mellow yet equally impressive triple-dip up at the Mill in Greenville with the KIM LAMOTHE TREE-O, HANNAH DEVINE, and JACOB HALLER hosting a live recording session. Only $8 at the door to catch three Best Music Poll nominees, call 401.949.8988 for details. On SUNDAY (the 16th), legendary guitarist JIMMIE VAUGHAN makes a stop at the Knickerbocker Cafe accompanied by his Tilt-a-Whirl Band (featuring former Roomful saxman Greg Piccolo); tickets are $40, call 401.596.4225. And a heads up for ’90s alt-rock duo LOCAL H (one of the loudest bands I’ve ever witnessed) pulling into Jerky’s Bar (401.621.2244) next THURSDAY (the 20th) behind their “6 Angry Records Tour.” Each night a fan pulls one of the six Local H records out of a bag and the band plays it in its entirety — on the spot. Keep it copacetic and pack the earplugs, all-ages and $12 at the door.

Fire up the camper, y’all: An early-bird discount is now in effect for the 13th annual RHYTHM & ROOTS FESTIVAL at Ninigret Park in Charlestown (September 3-5). The Texas Tornadoes, Dave Alvin & the Guilty Women, and the Danny Barnes Trio are among the headliners. Grab reduced rates on full weekend camping and ticket passes. The discount expires in early June. Get all the ticket info and full lineup at RhythmAndRoots.com.
