Around 2001, Guru begins working closely with Boston area rappers including Smitty, Jaysaun, and Krumb Snatcha – helping develop them and others for his Ill Kid Records imprint. While in town, he records the classic Boston anthem “Home” with Big Shug, Krumb Snatcha, Edo G, Akrobatik, and the Kreators (Jaysaun, Big Juan, XL, G-Squared). But after a long night of drinking at Waltz Audio on Boylston Street – during which time Guru also recorded a song to play his parents on their wedding anniversary – the rapper flips his black SUV while driving to Cape Cod to celebrate the occasion with his family.
