JESSE LYLE |www.jessielyle.com: I'm not sure how it came to be but somehow in the late ’80s I became the keeper of a huge box of his "concert tapes" – a big collection of recordings he had made live at concerts. I think I was supposed to be listening to them to find good bootleg segments. But instead what I listened to was everything that could be heard/recorded from Billy's inside coat pocket. Enthusiastic and joyful greetings mingled with the murmur of muffled voices. When the music started it came through as a dull roar punctuated with joyful exclamations followed by more roar. Inevitably the tape ended with a muffled thud and near silence after Billy found his resting spot for the night. Rest in Peace dear Billy.
