Formerly one-half of proto-chillwave duo Matters & Dunaway and currently a third of skygaze trio Endless Wave, Obin works solo in a futuristic daydream across worlds of mechanical transitways and decaying architecture. The Leominster native crafts relentless Soviet-bloc techno you can dance to, but the overall effect has a broader mental appeal. Crowds at his live shows tend to close their eyes, look downward, and drift away in the washed-out synth loops and spray-gun backbeats. Powered by Ableton Live and a combination of analog and digital gear, Obin on stage provides vocals and synths. "Electronic music is not rock and roll, in that I can't get up there and start banging away. There's so much more control. I'm the mixing engineer, so I have to get the sonics right."
