YOUNG THE GIANT + STATIC JACKS | Great Scott | January 18 | Bowery Boston, which crashed our city in 2010, turning Royale into a legitimate live-music venue, takes its first dip into indie clubland with "Bowery Presents" at Great Scott. Coincidentally, it's with buzz-ready, California-sun-pop indie kids Young the Giant, the first act to play the remodeled Paradise earlier this year (opening for Marina & the Diamonds). Beefing up the bill are young New Jersey garage rockers the Static Jacks, who may sound a lot like the Strokes, but since we're now a full decade beyond Is This It, that's no longer a terrible thing.
