It seems that Faberyayo is taking it all pretty well; if the government decided to reach into 50 Cent's pockets, I doubt he'd be so stoic about it. Then again, Yayo may have less to worry about than some — hip-hop may be slightly less reliant on government subsidies than more expensive propositions like symphony orchestras, which have to fill classy halls, pay dozens of musicians, and keep them in spotless tuxes.
A disturbing postscript to this story: I asked Faberyayo what the Dutch government needs with a bunch of Joint Strike Fighters, and he never replied — was he simply declining to comment on my idiotic question, or is he hiding the terrible truth: a dramatic return of Dutch imperialism? Watch the skies — we'll know soon enough.
