When not on the road performing, Raskin pays the rent by teaching piano to students in Massachusetts, as well as volunteering at Girls Rock! RI. A Classical High School grad, she quit the varsity tennis team during her senior year and joined a rock band.
"Tennis is fun, but the competition was too much for me," Raskin said. "In the end, it was a good choice."
The Rice Cakes are mapping out their first full US tour, including a string of shows along the West Coast. The band just enjoyed another appearance at the Kahbang Fest in Bangor, Maine, where they opened for the likes of Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Dom, Atmosphere, and Lupe Fiasco. Raskin says the trio will hit the studio come wintertime and begin work on their second full-length record.
But back to the case of the stolen guitar. Have a heart and hand back the matte black, nylon string, triple-O series Martin acoustic (with pink strap). Drop us a line here should you have any information (no questions asked).
Said Raskin with a smile and positive spin, "Who knows, it could show up in a pawn shop and maybe another local musician will buy it, and we'll end up playing a show with that person and I'll say, 'Hey, that's my guitar, motherfucker!' "
