"I've accepted the things that have happened in the world in the last 10 years, and I've realized a lot of things about myself, too," he says. "But back then I had so much shit in my head that I was experiencing and analyzing. Now I think about what I say before I say it, and I know that if I say it in an extra-poetic way I might lose people. I don't want that — I want non-Arabs to feel what Arabs feel like without speaking about Arabs, and I want the person who I'm talking to to relate to me."
