Last call for two good shows in the capital city on THURSDAY (the 29th), as the Spot Underground hosts PC alums and "waterslide rock" specialists LAST ONE OUT, and the Whiskey Republic delivers a nice triple-bill featuring SIX STAR GENERAL, THE JESSE MINUTE, and HOPE ANCHOR, all for only a fin at the door. One helluva weekend ahead on the local live circuit, with some of Rhody's finest out and about onn FRIDAY (the 30th): Latin-funk kings SANTA MAMBA return to the Newport Blues Café ($10, call 401.841.5510); Pawtucket wordsmith CHACHI CARVALHO and friends spark up their Homegrown Hip-Hop showcase at the Roots downtown (401.272.7422); the PVD Social Club (ex-Jerky's, 401.454.7177) brings in LAST GOOD TOOTH and THE BROTHER KITE; and ALLYSEN CALLERY, THE REVEREND BASTIEN, and more hit AS220, call 401.831.9327. It's a busy weekend for Best Music Poll 2011 champs (for best band and album) COMA COMA, who will team with GOOD TIME CHARLIE and THE MCGUNKS for a freebie at the Apartment (401.228.7222) on Friday, then they head back to the East Bay for two gigs on SATURDAY (the 1st), starting with the stacked FusionFest roster on the Warren waterfront (335 Water Street), kicking off around noontime with no cover, free parking, a beer garden and an all-star local lineup featuring THE RICE CAKES, THE HONEY BROWN, and a slew of music poll winners from the nearby 75orLess Records crew — catch SIX STAR GENERAL, THE PROPELLERS, SUICIDE BILL, and GIRL HAGGARD, all free of charge! Later that evening, Coma Coma, Six Star, and Good Time Charlie head to Judge Roy Bean in Bristol for a 75orLess nightcap, call 401.253.7526 for details.
